Biography
Rodrigo Cardoso (1997) was born in Cinfães (Portugal).
He finished his bachelor in Composition in 2018, at Escola Superior de
Música de Lisboa, studying with composers such as João Madureira, Luís
Tinoco and António Pinho Vargas.
In 2015 he received the 1st Prize of the “Concurso de Composição séc.
XXI” with “Reflexos”, for solo bass clarinet. In 2018 he received the Golden
Prize of the “Oskar Rieding Internacional Competition for Young Musicians”
– Slovenia. In 2019, obtained the 2nd Prize of the SPA / Antena 2
Composition Award. In 2022 he received the 2nd prize in the National
Composition Contest of the Portuguese Symphonic Band.
In 2018, he received, from the “Prémio Jovens Musicos” and Antena 2 –
RTP, an order to write the mandatory piece of the contest in the clarinet
category.
Nowadays, he is holding a Master’s degree taken at Royal Northern College
of Music, where he studied with Adam Gorb and David Horne.
